Ifyouareinstallinganoptionaldeviceintheserver,youneedtoslidetheserveroutfromtherackenclosure,
turnofftheserverandperipheraldevices,anddisconnectthepowercordsandallexternalcables.
Note:Forbrevity,inthisdocumentationtheLenovoServeRAIDSAS/SATAcontrollerisoftenreferredtoas
theSAS/SATAadapterortheServeRAIDadapter.
ToinstallanoptionalServeRAIDSAS/SATAcontrollermemorymodule,completethefollowingsteps.
Step1.Removethecover(see“Removingthecover”onpage33).
Step2.RemovethePCIriser-cardassembly(see“RemovingthePCIriser-cardassembly”onpage163).
Step3.RemovetheServeRAIDSAS/SATAcontrollerifnecessary(“RemovinganLenovoServeRAID
SAS/SATAcontroller”onpage187).
Step4.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainsthememorycardtoanyunpaintedmetalsurface
ontheserver;then,removethememorycardfromthepackage.
Step5.AlignthememorymodulewiththeconnectorontheServeRAIDSAS/SATAcontrollerandpush
itintotheconnectoruntilitisfirmlyseated.

Step6.ReinstalltheServeRAIDSAS/SATAcontroller(“InstallinganLenovoServeRAIDSAS/SATA

InstallingaRAIDadapterbatteryorflashpowermodule
UsethisinformationtoinstallaRAIDadapterbatteryorflashpowermoduleintheserver.
WhenyouinstallanyRAIDadapterthatcomeswithbatteriesorflashpowermodules,itissometimes
necessarytoinstallthebatteriesorflashpowermodulesinanotherlocationintheservertopreventthe
batteriesorflashpowermodulesfromoverheating.Dependingonyourservermodel,abatterymustbe
installedremotelyneartheopticaldrivecageorthebackplane.
Note:RAIDadapterbatteryorflashpowermoduleisonlysupportedinthe2.5-inchmodels.
