•Locatethedocumentationthatcomeswiththeharddiskdriveandfollowthoseinstructionsinadditionto
theinstructionsinthischapter.
•Makesurethatyouhaveallthecablesandotherequipmentthatarespecifiedinthedocumentationthat
comeswiththedrive.
•Selectthebayinwhichyouwanttoinstallthedrive.
•Checktheinstructionsthatcomewiththedrivetodeterminewhetheryouhavetosetanyswitchesor
jumpersonthedrive.IfyouareinstallingaSASorSATAharddiskdrive,besuretosettheSASor
SATAIDforthatdevice.
•Youcaninstalluptotoeight2.5-inchorfour3.5-inchhot-swapSASorSATAharddiskdrivesintheserver.
•Theelectromagneticinterference(EMI)integrityandcoolingoftheserverareprotectedbyhavingallbays
andPCIandPCIExpressslotscoveredoroccupied.Whenyouinstalladrive,PCI,orPCIExpress
adapter,savetheEMCshieldandfillerpanelfromthebayorPCIorPCIExpressadapterslotcoverinthe
eventthatyoulaterremovethedevice.

Toreplaceahot-swapSASorSATAharddiskdrive,completethefollowingsteps:
Note:Ifyouhaveonlyoneharddiskdrive,youmustinstallitintheleftdrivebay.
Attention:Toavoiddamagetotheharddiskdriveconnectors,makesurethattheservercoverisinplace
andfullyclosedwheneveryouinstallorremoveaharddiskdrive.
Step1.Removethefillerpanelfromtheemptydrivebay.Keepthefillerpanelinasafeplace.
Step2.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainsthedrivetoanyunpaintedmetalsurfaceonthe
server;then,removethedrivefromthepackageandplaceitonastatic-protectivesurface.
Step3.Installtheharddiskdriveinthedrivebay:
a.Makesurethatthetrayhandleisintheopen(unlocked)position.
b.Alignthedrivewiththeguiderailsinthebay.
