Ifyouarereplacingaservercomponentintheserver,youneedtoslidetheserveroutfromtherack
enclosure,turnofftheserverandperipheraldevices,anddisconnectthepowercordsandallexternalcables.
Toremovethe3.5-inchsimple-swapharddiskdrivebackplateassembly,completethefollowingsteps:
Step1.Removethecover(see“Removingthecover”onpage157).
Step2.RemovethePCIriser-cardassemblyifapplicable(see“RemovingthePCIriser-cardassembly”on
page163).
Step3.DisconnectthecablesfromtheRAIDadapterorsystemboard(see“Internalcableroutingand
connectors”onpage259).
Step4.Disconnectthepowercable.
Step5.Removetherelevantcablesthatpassthroughthecableclips.
Step6.Pulltheharddiskdrivesorfillersoutoftheserverslightlytodisengagethemfromtheharddisk
drivebackplateassembly(see“Removingasimple-swapharddiskdrive”onpage175).
Step7.Pullandloosentheretentionlatchontopofthedrivebackplateassemblycageandliftthe
backplateassemblyup.Rotatethedrivebackplateassemblybackwardandoutofthetabsatthe
bottomofthedrivecageandremovethebackplateassemblyfromtheserver.
