Ifyouareinstallinganoptionaldeviceintheserver,youneedtoslidetheserveroutfromtherackenclosure,
turnofftheserverandperipheraldevices,anddisconnectthepowercordsandallexternalcables.
Toinstallanadapter,completethefollowingsteps.
Step1.Removethecover(see“Removingthecover”onpage33).
Step2.RemovethePCIriser-cardassembly(see“RemovingthePCIriser-cardassembly”onpage163).
Step3.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainstheadaptertoanyunpaintedmetalsurfaceon
theserver;then,removetheadapterfromthepackage.
Step4.Placetheadapter,componentsideup,onaflat,static-protectivesurfaceandsetanyjumpersor
switchesasdescribedbytheadaptermanufacturer,ifnecessary.
Step5.Removetheexpansion-slotfillerfromthePCIriser-cardassemblyandsaveforfutureuse.
Step6.AlignthegoldfingerontheadapterwiththeconnectoronthePCIriser-cardassembly,then,insert
theadapterintothePCIriser-cardassembly.PresstheedgeoftheconnectorfirmlyintothePCI
riser-cardassembly.MakesurethattheadapterissecurelyinstalledinthePCIriser-cardassembly.
Important:MakesurethattheU-shapedopeninginthemetaladapterbracketengagesthetab
ontheexpansion-slotfiller.
