4.2.3 Reagent USED FOR RINSING
When a reagent USED ALSO for rinsing (in this case Ethanol) has expired its reuse life (in this case the
number of processed cassettes) a RED symbol appears over the ETHANOL reagent BUT the word Replace
blinks in red over the RINSING 1 reagent.
1. Select the blinking RINSING 1 reagent and press the Replace Reagent button (see figure below).
2. Follow the procedure how to replace the reagent described in chapter 4.2.1.
3. After the replacement, the software resets the reagent management count to zero and renames the
old RINSING1 reagent as new DEHYDRATION reagent (figure below). The software renames the other
tanks containing the reagent used also for rinsing as Rinsing 1 reagent and Rinsing 2 reagent, according to
the number of cassettes already processed.
This procedure has been conceived to increase shelf life of Ethanol allowing more use as Rinsing despite
the expiration as dehydration reagent.
At the end of the procedure it is possible to check the correspondence between the tanks
as diplayed by the software, with their numbers, names and colors, and the real tanks as
positioned inside the drawer.
