5-7 HOW TO UNDERSTAND MILLI-Q MESSAGES
It is possible for various messages to be displayed on the Milli-Q LCD while you are using the Milli-Q. While a
message is being displayed, either the Yellow Service LED or the Red Alarm LED can be blinking.
The table below provides a summary of these messages, what they mean and what to do when you see them. You
may also refer to Chapter 7 (Troubleshooting) for more information about these messages and other
troubleshooting items.
Please contact Millipore if you desire more information regarding what to do when a message appears on the
Milli-Q.

What it means What to do
EXCH. CARTRIDGES
.
Milli-Q Synthesis: The Q-Gard and
Quantum have been installed for more
than 180 Calendar Days.
Replace the Q-Gard and the Quantum
(and the Millipak).
START SANIT.
A sanitisation of the UF Cartridge
should be performed. This message
appears because of a timer. This
message normally appears 4 weeks
after the previous UF Cartridge
Sanitisation.
Perform a Sanitisation of the
UF Cartridge. See the Maintenance
Chapter of this Manual (See Chapter
6, Section 6-5 for information on how
to do this).
EXCH. UF
The age of the UF Cartridge is greater
than the UF Cartridge timer established
in the software.
Contact Millipore to replace the
UF Cartridge.
TOC > SETPOINT
You can still use the system if the water
quality (resistivity and TOC) is fine for
your application.
The displayed TOC (Milli-Q Synthesis
A10 only) is greater than the TOC
Setpoint established in the software.
A TOC value above the TOC Setpoint
can have many causes. Contact
Millipore.
CARTRIDGE OUT
The Milli-Q will not operate. This
message must be resolved before the
Milli-Q can operate.
Either the Q-Gard Pack or the
Quantum Cartridge is not installed
correctly or one of them is absent.
Reinstall either or both the Q-Gard
Pack or the Quantum Cartridge.
NO FEED WATER
The Milli-Q will not operate. This
message must be resolved before the
Milli-Q can operate.
An optional accessory has detected
that there is no feedwater going to the
Milli-Q. This accessory is not factory
installed and needs to be installed in
the system.
Make sure the Reservoir or the
Pressurised Pipe feeding the Milli-Q
has a supply of feedwater that can be
delivered to the Milli-Q.
