Install new controller

Install new controller
You install a new controller canister to replace the failed one. You install the new controller
canister after installing the battery, host interface card, power supply, DIMMs, and fans from the
original controller.
Steps
1.
Install battery
on page 24
You must install the battery into the replacement controller canister. Align the new battery with the
side of the controller and then plug the connector into the board.
2.
Install host interface card
on page 24
If you removed a HIC from the original controller canister, you must install that HIC in the new
controller canister. Install the HIC by gently lowering the card into place and hand tightening the
single thumbscrew.
3.
Install power supply
on page 26
You must install the power supply into the replacement controller canister. Install the power supply
by gently sliding it into the opening of the new controller.
4.
Install DIMMs
on page 26
You must install the DIMMs into the new controller canister. Install the DIMMs by sliding the
DIMM into the slot and securing the latches on either side.
5.
Install fans
on page 27
You must install the fans into the replacement controller canister. Install the fans by sliding them
into the shelf.
6.
Install new controller canister
on page 28
After installing the battery, power supply, DIMMs, fans, and the host interface card (HIC), if one
was initially installed, you can install the new controller canister into the controller shelf. Install
