MARTNA™ 10G NETWORK ACCESS (SMARTNA-X)
ADMINISTERING SMARTNA-X | UPLOADING A USER-DEFINED SSL CERTIFICATE
DRAFT
CAUTION: Using the wrong firmware update file can render your hardware inoperable. If in doubt, contact
Network Critical Support before applying an update.
To update system firmware, follow these steps:
1. Log in to the web UI (firmware updating is not supported in the CLI).
2. Click on the main chassis area to access system management settings.
3. Select the Management tab.
4. Click Update and Continue.
5. Enter your SmartNA-X Administrator username and password, and then click Choose file and select the new
firmware file.
6. Click Upload new firmware and wait for the process to finish and the system to automatically reboot (note the
implications of rebooting live TAPs as described in the “Rebooting the system” section on page 32).
Uploading a user-defined SSL certificate
To avoid seeing the security warning when logging in via the web UI, users with the ability to sign their own SSL
certificates in-house can upload a user-defined SSL certificate to replace the default self-signed one.
The file to be uploaded must be an archive in .tar
.bz2 format that contains exactly two files:
N
etworkCritical.crt – maximum 8192-bit PEM-encoded X.509 certificate file
ser
ver.key – maximum 8192-bit PEM-encoded private key file
To upload an SSL certificate, follow these steps:
1. Log in to the web UI.
2. Click on the main chassis area to access system management settings.
3. Select the Management tab.
4. Click Upload SSL certificate.
5. Enter the SmartNA-X administrator username and password.
6. Upload an SSL certificate in the form of a .tar.bz2 file containing the NetworkCritical.crt and server.key files.
Once the archive file has been uploaded and its contents have been installed, the web UI automatically attempts to
verify that the new certificate is working properly. If it succeeds, a confirmation message is displayed and the
upload process is complete. If the web UI is unable to verify that the device is accessible using the new certificate,
or if the installation process itself is interrupted, the system will automatically revert to its default certificate
configuration after approximately one minute. Note that in the event of any certificate issues, the system will
automatically go back to using the factory-default certificate.
Changing your password
For security it’s important to keep your login password to the SmartNA-X system secure. If you suspect the
password is no longer secure, you can change it after logging in to the web UI and accessing the Management tab.
To change your SmartNA-X user password, follow these steps:
