3.2.6 Updating TX1 firmware
TX1 firmware is stored on an SD card located in the back of the unit. There are three
different ways to update the firmware on the TX1 SD card, as covered in detail later
in this section. But each of them first requires installation of the latest version of the
Tableau Firmware Update (TFU) application on a Windows-based computer
system. TFU contains the TX1 firmware package file and makes it available for
updating TX1 units. Before discussing the different ways of updating the firmware
on the SD card, let’s first cover the steps required to get TFU installed on a Windows
machine.
To install the latest version of Tableau Firmware Update, go to the OpenText My
Support Portal Knowledge Base, then follow these steps.
Note: Filtered results appear on the right side of the screen. You can skip any
of steps 1-4 when you see the link you want.
1. In the Product section on the left, expand Tableau Forensic.
2. In the Duplicator/Imager section, select TX1.
3. Expand the Version section and select the desired firmware version.
4. Expand the Content Type section, then expand the Software download section
and click Software. A link to the desired Tableau Firmware Update application
installer (.msi) file will appear in the search results area.
5. Click the link for the TFU installer. A page containing the download link will be
displayed.
6. Click Download near the bottom of the page. The TFU installer will be
downloaded to your machine.
Note: If this is your first time downloading the TFU installer from
OpenText My Support, you will need to perform steps 7-9, after which the
installer will be downloaded to your machine.
7. The OpenText End User License Agreement page is displayed.
8. Click the box accepting the terms of the license agreement. The Accept button
becomes enabled.
9. Click the Accept button.
10. Once the download is complete, navigate to the TFU .msi installer file and
double-click to begin the installation process.
Now that TFU is installed, let’s cover the different methods of updating the actual
TX1 firmware itself.
Note: A firmware update cannot be started on a TX1 while a job is running.
This is true when initiating an update from the local user interface (after
selecting the firmware package file) or after a remote user has uploaded a
firmware package file to TX1. It is recommended that all active users on a
