SD card removal update method:
Note: Due to possible undesirable Windows interactions with the installed SD
card, this firmware update method is not recommended. Please consider using
one of the methods above.
1. Turn off TX1 and remove the SD card from the rear of the unit by pushing the
SD card inward until it clicks and then releasing it. The SD card will be ejected
from the unit.
2. Insert the SD card into a Windows computer that has the Tableau Firmware
Update utility installed. (See the beginning of this section for instructions on
installing Tableau Firmware Update.) If your Windows computer does not have
a native SD card slot, an SD card adapter may be used.
Caution
Windows will not recognize the filesystem formatting on a TX1 SD
card. Upon SD card insertion, it will immediately display a message
indicating that you need to format the drive before you can use it. You
must cancel out of this Windows formatting. Allowing Windows to
format a TX1 SD card will remove all prior formatting and it could
make your SD card unusable in your TX1, even after it has been
updated with Tableau Firmware Update.
3. After declining to format the SD card via Windows, the SD card will be
available for updating. Launch the Tableau Firmware Update application. The
TX1 SD card will be shown in the list of available devices.
4. Check the selection box next to the desired TX1 SD card in the TFU devices list,
and then tap Update in the bottom right corner of TFU. After acknowledging
the prompt, the update process will begin.
5. When the SD card update has successfully completed, eject the SD car from
Windows and remove it.
6. With the label side of the SD card facing up, insert the SD card into TX1 until it
clicks, then release. The SD card locks in position when it is properly inserted.
7. When TX1 is turned on, it will boot from the new firmware on the SD card.
Note that, regardless of the firmware update method used, the hash of the currently
loaded firmware package is calculated and displayed in the top portion of TX1’s
About screen. This allows for at-a-glance verification that the proper firmware
version is running and that it has not been altered.
