6.2 Work with marking files in offline mode
In offline mode, there is no connection between your PC and the laser marking system. You
can use the PC configuration software Laser Marker NAVI smart to create, edit and save a
marking file.
The marking file is saved on your PC. You can later transfer a marking file to the laser
marking system, if you want to mark it on a workpiece.
In offline mode, you can do the following:
• Create and save a marking file to your PC (offline mode) (page 61)
• Open and save an existing marking file to your PC (offline mode) (page 62)
6.2.1 Create and save a marking file to your PC (offline mode)
You can create a new marking file, add marking data and save it to your PC or a network
drive.
1. Open the “Startup” screen by starting Laser Marker NAVI smart.
2. Select “Offline”.
3. Select “New...” > “Marking file (.lms)” and select the model of your laser marking system.
The “Marking settings” screen opens with an empty marking image editor.
4. Create marking objects and specify the desired marking settings.
5. If you edit a marking file in offline mode, you must save it to your PC before you can
transfer it to the laser marking system.
• Select “Save” > “Save” or >“Save as” to save the marking file on a local or network
drive.
• After saving the file, you can select “Save as” to create a copy of the existing file
under a new name.
The file is saved in the marking file format .lms to your local or network drive.
6. You can later transfer a marking file to the laser marking system, if you want to mark it
on a workpiece.
Establish an online connection and add the marking file to the list in “Data
management” > “Marking files”.
