Initial RTT (Round Trip Time)
Round trip time is the elapsed time between a 7535/7530 computer transmission and
an access point acknowledgement. Each 7535/7530 continuously adjusts the accept-
able round trip time, calculating the average elapsed time over a number of trans-
missions. If an acknowledgement takes longer to receive than the average round trip
time calculated, the 7535/7530 will resend the transmission.
Because 7535/7530s cannot calculate an average round trip time without a number
of transmissions, a starting point or “Initial Round Trip Time” is required. The
7535/7530 uses the time assigned to the “Initial RTT” parameter as a starting value
for round trip calculations. Once the 7535/7530 begins transmitting and receiving
data, this value will be adjusted to reflect the actual average round trip time between
transmissions and acknowledgements.
