Appendix D – Open Loop Velocity Settings
Maximum Velocity settings
Due to the “open loop” nature of the stepper driven systems, we must set a maximum speed for each axis
that must not be exceeded. Unlike our “closed loop” servo systems which generate a position error if the
user attempts to run the motors faster than they are capable of moving, an “open loop” loop system will
simply lose position and keep going. The maximum speeds for each system are listed below:
