Appendix D. Terminology
Table 9: Terminology (Sheet 1 of 5)
Actual number of meslots allocated to a radio unit.
Automac Channel Selecon. Opon that instructs the radio to
choose which frequency to use. Enabling or disabling this opon has
various ramicaons as shown in the documenta‐ on.
Applicaon Program Interface
Automac Transmit Power Control
Best Eort: A level of priority for trac in which users receive
dynamic resource allocaon according to overall demand. They are
not guaranteed resources. See also CIR.
Bidireconal Forwarding Detecon. A network protocol used to
detect faults between two forwarding engines connected by a link.
Base Staon: a radio that can transmit and receive to more than one
point. See also HBS
Commied Informaon Rate: A level of priority for trac in which
users receive a guaranteed percentage of resources in addion to
dynamic resources if available. See also BE.
Customer Premises Equipment
Dynamic Bandwidth Allocaon: a method that allocates bandwidth
between the various users of that same band‐ width in the network.
Dynamic Bandwidth Selecon: When acvang a base sta‐ on, or
when changing its bandwidth, if you choose the max‐ imum value
available for the bandwidth, the link may dynamically switch
between the maximum value and values as low as 20MHz to ensure
the best throughput.
