6.3 DOS: DOWNLOAD TO FLASH MEMORY

FLASH Memory
The FLASH memory IC14 (28F512) is a non-volatile memory which may be erased and programmed
electrically. This feature allows to replace the software of Photometer 5010 consisting of:
• operating system
• method data
• text data
The process is done by a serial interface utility DOWNLOAD ( see OM chapter 5.8) and a software modul
running on a personal computer. The devices Photometer 5010 and the personal computer have to be
connected by a serial interface cable.
1. Connect the devices Photometer 5010 and the personal computer by a serial interface cable.
2. Switch on both devices.
3. Install in a new directory of the personal computer the files DL_5010.EXE, D_LOAD.HEX and
P_100.HEX.
4. Photometer 5010: Start the serial interface utility DOWNLOAD ( see OM chapter 5.8) by [MODE]
[SERIAL] [5] [ENTER].
5. Personal computer: Change to DOS-input level. Select the directory with the installed three files.
Start the program file DL_5010.EXE.
DL_5010.EXE is a stand alone executable file for IBM/DOS systems.
6. The menu shows following items:
0 -> END of application
1 -> Select port COM 1
2 -> Select port COM 2
3 -> DOWNLOAD to Photometer 5010
4 -> RESUME after malfunction
7. By item 1 or item 2 the port of the serial interface can be selected. After starting the program the
default value is COM 1.
8. By item 3 the DOWNLOAD to Photometer 5010 is startet.
A progress bar shows the transferring of the files D_LOAD.HEX and P_100.HEX to Photometer
5010. The operation needs a time of approximate three minutes.
IMPORTANT:
Be sure that during this operation there is no power fail. Do not interrupt the running
program.
9. After end of operation Photometer 5010 performs a restart operation and shows the start menue.
Otherwise in case of malfunction:
10. The Photometer 5010 shows a dialog after finishing the DOWNLOAD to Photometer 5010 and after
waiting more than five minutes:
11. Switch off Photometer 5010.
12. Turn device on its top side.
13. Dismantle lid of FLASH MEMORY or EPROM (see drawing in SERVICE MANUAL
chapter 6.2).
