1.1 Symbols and safety labels
Compliance with safety instructions will help prevent personal injury or damage caused by hazards of
any kind. It is therefore essential to carefully read and comply with the following safety instructions
before commissioning the product. It is also absolutely vital to comply with additional safety instructions
relating to personal safety which appear in other sections of the documentation. In these safety
instructions, the word "product" refers to all goods sold and distributed by Rohde&Schwarz, including all
instruments, systems and accessories.
1.2 Tags and their meaning
DANGER Indicates a hazard area that carries a high risk of danger for users. The hazard area can
cause death or serious injuries.
WARNING Indicates a hazard area that carries a medium risk of danger for users. The hazazrd
area can cause death or serious injuries.
CAUTION Indicates a hazard area that carries a slight risk of danger for users. The hazard area
can cause minor injuries.
ATTENTION This tag indicates the possibility of incorrect use which may cause damage to the
product.
NOTE This tag indicates a situation where the user should take special care when operating
the product but which will not damage the product.
