16 SMS commands
The SensusRF Gateway has a feature that allows the user to send commands via SMS. This is useful for
situations where the user is not close to where the Gateway is installed.
Firstly, in order to send a command to the Gateway it is necessary send the PIN command. The PIN command
opens a session between the mobile phone and the Gateway. After the Gateway recognize the PIN, the
session will remain active for 15 minutes. If a session has expired, the Gateway will answer an SMS sent to it
with message: NACK-CLOSED-SESSION indicating that the session has expired, or If the command sent is
invalid, the Gateway will answer with the message NACK.
In order to send commands via SMS to the Gateway, it is important to know the phone number of the SIM
CARD installed in the Gateway. If the SIM CARD phone number is unknown, IRIS Server can be used to send
a command to the gateway telling it to send a SMS message to a mobile. The sender of the SMS message
received in the mobile will is the Gateway SIM CARD phone number. It is important that the Gateway is
connected to an IRIS server for this method to be used. Below, the command to be sent to the Gateway using
an IRIS server:
***,1,1,$gmin,(user’s mobile phone number).
For example: ***,1,1,$gmin,+5511912341234
After a few seconds, the mobile will receive a SMS with the Gateway SIM CARD phone number, as the
example below:
The SMS commands supported by the Gateway are explained below.
