Otherwise, the following options are available:
â–  Adjustment at the measuring point
The following requirements must be fulfilled:
– Dry ambient atmosphere free of the measurement gas and dust
– The power supply for the GM35 measuring system is installed and available
– Suitable bracket, to which the measuring probe with attached SR unit can be secured
horizontally outside the measuring gas duct. Sufficient ground clearance must be
provided at the bottom of the SR unit for the connectors.
Safety precautions when using the angle flange
‡ When attaching the angle flange to the duct flange with pipe, ensure that there is no risk
to health as a result of hot or corrosive measurement gases or hot components.
Particular caution is required with measurement gas compositions of this type and/or if
the duct is pressurized. If necessary, use suitable protective equipment or a different
bracket.
‡ Since the safety precautions here are similar to those for mounting the measuring probe,
please refer to the detailed safety instructions on Page page 57.
If the angle flange cannot be used on the duct flange for safety or space (duct insula-
tion) reasons, it can be screwed or welded into position at a different point within range
of the connection cables.
If the cable length is adequate and sufficient space is available, the SR unit can also
be adjusted on the ground at the measuring point (see following Chapter).
â–  Adjustment elsewhere
Alternatively, the adjustment can be carried out at a different location, whereby the same
basic requirements apply. The system can either be adjusted on a stable bracket using
the angle flange, or on the ground. The SR unit can either be placed on the left side of the
housing with the measuring probe mounted (so that the right side with the sight points
upwards), or, if the SR unit is arranged vertically, a secure support can be used to ensure
that the necessary ground clearance for the cable connections is provided.
As additional three-pin power supply cables with matching AMP connectors, article no.
2 017 519, are required for the SR unit and also for the measuring probe, if it is a GPP
version. These cables are connected to a suitable a.c. power source (provided by the
customer); in the simplest case, a standard plug is attached to the open cable end. If ca-
bles of this type are not available (e.g. because adjustment was planned at the measuring
point), the relevant cables must be removed from the measuring point and reinstalled af-
ter the adjustment has been carried out. When the power supply is connected, a connec-
tion to the ground contact must also be ensured.
After it has been adjusted, the SR unit with the measuring probe mounted is transported
to the measuring point to start measuring operation.
Time The adjustment procedure, including warm-up time, lasts approx. 2.5 to 5 hours, whereby
the actual work usually requires less than 30 minutes, with the remaining time required for
the warm-up procedure. Other activities, such as commissioning the purge-air supply (see
Page page 55) can be carried out at the measuring point during the warm-up time. Never-
theless, due to the long warm-up time, it can be useful with measuring points that are not
readily accessible to carry out the adjustment at a different location.
