7.4.4 Common Interface
The smart CX20 provides of a Common Interface Plus slot.
This interface allows for decrypting various encrypted channels using a
card module (CAM Conditional-Access Module) and a corresponding
smartcard.
The smart CX20 is suitable for recording with CI+ mod-
ules; thanks to its downward compatibility also CI mod-
ules can be used.
To use a CI+/CI module:
1. Switch off the receiver using the power switch on the rear panel.
2. Carefully insert the module into the module slot at the front panel until
the contacts lock in place.
3. Switch on the receiver.
4. If you purchased module and smartcard together ("bundle package"),
then the smartcard is already located in the module in most cases;
otherwise, plug a suitable smartcard into the module. You can remove
or insert the smartcard at any time without switching off the receiver.
Please also note the instructions of the module manu-
facturer!
5. After inserting the module and the smartcard, you can select the re-
spective channel. It may take some seconds until the channel is re-
leased.
