Configuring a UHF Radio Modem
For HiPer+ receivers, the integrated PDL UHF radio modem provides
TX/RX UHF communications between a Base and Rover using either
a manually selected channel or AutoBase/AutoRover features.
When using a manually selected channel, only one channel is
used for both the Base and Rover stations.
When using AutoBase/AutoRover mode, several channels are
configured for use with both the Base and Rover stations,
allowing the receiver(s) to scan for the best channel to
communicate on.
To configure a PDL UHF radio modem, have the following ready:
A computer running Windows® 98 or newer
The PDL configuration program installed on the computer
A serial cable (or Bluetooth wireless technology capabilities)
See “Configuring a GSM Radio Modem” to configure the GSM
portion of a HiPer+ setup.
1. Connect your receiver and computer. See “Connecting the
Receiver and a Computer” on page 2-14 for this procedure.
2. On the Connection Parameters dialog box, select a 38400 baud
rate and turn off the RTS/CTS handshaking parameter (if needed).
3. Once connected, click on FileManual Mode to open the
Manual Mode dialog box.
4. To create a daisy chain between the receiver’s port (A or D) and
the PDL modem, type each of the following commands, pressing
Enter (or clicking Send command) after each command.
%%set,dev/ser/c/rate,38400
%%set,dev/ser/c/echo,/cur/term
%%set,dev/ser/c/imode,echo
%%set,cur/term/eoff,QUIT
NOTICE
To comply with RF exposure requirements,
maintain at least 25cm between the user and the
radio modem.
