SPECIFICATIONS & PERFORMANCE
OPERATION PRINCIPLE
The fundus of the patient's eye is illuminated by the infrared light emitted from the illumination
optical system. The observation camera built into the instrument receives the image and the
image is indicated on the color LCD monitor allowing the operator to observe the fundus. After
adjusting the photography position and focus, the visible light is emitted from the illumination
optical system provided for photography by operating the photography switch of the instru-
ment. The digital camera, which is connected to the instrument, receives the image and then
the image is recorded in the memory card built into the digital camera and/or the connected
image filing system or external recording device, which is a commercial product.
It is also possible to perform the following types of observation and photography: After remov-
ing the IR filter from the illumination optical system, the fundus of the patient's eye can be illu-
minated, observed and photographed by using the visible light. By inserting the RF filter into
the illumination optical system, the operator can perform the red-free observation and photog-
raphy. By inserting the Ex filter, which selects and transmits the light to excite the fluorescent
coloring matter, into the illumination optical system and the Ba filter, which selects and filtrates
the fluorescent wavelength, into the observation/photography optical system, the operator can
perform the FA observation and photography.
FAF photography is performed as follows: the Ex filter for FAF photography, which selects and
transmits the light to excite Autofluorescence, is inserted into the illumination optical system
and the Ba filter for FAF photography, which selects and filtrates the fluorescent wavelength, is
inserted into the observation/photography optical system. Then, the observation camera built
in the instrument takes a picture. The instrument of TRC-NW8F plus must have the observa-
tion camera applicable to FAF photography.
When you select FA photography and FAF photography in TRC-NW8F plus, the instrument
automatically changes the illumination diaphragm built in the illumination optical system to
adjust the light intensity properly for observation/photography.
The auto focus function moves the lens and adjusts the focus automatically according to the
results obtained by processing the reflected image of the split lines projected by the observa-
tion optical system.
According to the results obtained by processing the reflected image of the alignment bright
spot projected by the observation optical system, the auto shoot function detects that the pic-
ture position is proper and, when the focus is correct, the instrument automatically takes a pic-
ture through this function.
When the reflected image of the split lines does not meet the reference data, the auto small
pupil selector function automatically changes the illumination diaphragm to the one for small
pupil. It is possible to save and display the image photographed with the small pupil diaphragm
as the image applicable to the picture angle 30°.
*
The auto illumination level adjustment function calculates the brightness by processing the
image received by the observation camera. When the brightness does not meet the reference
data, this function adjusts the illumination level automatically.
The blink detection function detects the reflected light intensity of the illumination light and,
when it is beyond the reference value, stops photography.
*
In the case of TRC-NW8F plus, only when the photography software, which is an accessory
of the instrument, is installed to a personal computer and the instrument is connected to the
computer, this picture angle function can be used.
