11.Haveanoperatorslowlypushthetractionleverforthepumpthatisbeing
testedtofullyforwardposition.KeeptheothertractionleverintheNEUTRAL
position.
12.Slowlyclosethetesterowcontrolvalveuntilthepressuregaugereadingis
6,900kPa(1,000psi).
13.Checktheenginespeedwithaphototacandensurethattheenginespeedis
still2,800rpm.
14.Observetheowgauge.
Note:Thetesterreadingshouldbeapproximately50.3L/minute(13.3
gallons/minute)foratractionpumpingoodcondition.
15.Openthetesterowcontrolvalve,releasethetractionlevertotheNEUTRAL
positionandshutofftheengine.Recordthetestresults.
16.Anormaltractionpumpowis50.3L/minute(13.3gallons/minute).A
lowerpumpowmayresultinreducedtractioncircuitperformance.Ifthe
owislessthan41.6L/minute(11gallons/minute)orapressureof6,900
kPa(1,000psi)cannotbeobtained:
A.Thetractioncontrollevermayneedadjustment.
B.Iftheenginespeeddropsexcessivelyasthetesterowcontrolvalveis
closed,theengineperformanceshouldbeevaluated;refertoChapter3:
DieselEngine(page3–1).
C.Iftheenginespeeddoesnotdrop,thepressureandowspecications
arenotmet,thetestedtransmissionpistonpumpneedstobeinspected,
repaired,orreplacedasnecessary.
17.Ifthetransmissionpistonpumpowspecicationismet,andyouidentifya
tractioncircuitproblem,considerthatawheelmotoriswornordamaged;
refertoTestProcedure(page4–44).
18.Releasepressurefromthehydraulicsystem;refertoReleasingPressure
fromtheHydraulicSystem(page4–11).
19.Disconnectthetesterfromthetransmissionttingandhose,andconnectthe
hydraulichosetothetransmissionportttingagain.
20.Ifnecessary,repeattheowtestforothertransmissionpistonpump.
