Bleed Brake System
Afterlooseningorremovinganyhydraulicbrakecompo-
nent, the brake system should be bled to insure proper
brake operation.
NOTE: A power/vacuum brake bleeding tool will pro-
vide faster and more effective brake bleeding than
manual bleeding.
1. Connectasuitabletransparenthosetobleedervalve
on wheel cylinder and submerge other end of hose in a
glass container partially filled with clean brake fluid.
2. Have a second person pump brake pedal several
times, then hold pedal down firmly.
3. With pedal firmly depressed, open bleeder valve of
wheel cylinder until pedal fades to floor. Close bleeder
valve before releasing pedal.
4. Repeat procedure until a continuous flow of brake
fluid,withnoairbubbles,isreleasedfrombleedervalve.
Makesurefluidlevelismaintainedinbrakefluidres -
ervoir at all times.
5. Repeat steps 1 to 4 for other wheel cylinders.
CAUTION
After servicing the brakes, always check brake
operationin awide open,level areathat is free of
other persons and obstructions.
6. After bleedingofbrakes is completed,testvehicle to
makesurebrakesareoperatingcorrectlyandthatbrake
pedal is solid.
