Neutral Engine Speed Control Coil
Theneutralenginespeedcontrolcoilisenergizedbythe
speedcontrolswitch andcruisemodule. Theenergized
coil becomes a magnet to hold the accelerator lever in
positionandmaintains engine speedfor sprayer opera-
tion when the machine is stationary.
Testing
1. Park machine on a level surface, stop engine, en-
gage parking brake and remove key from ignition
switch.
2. Locatecontrolcoilnexttoacceleratorleverunderthe
floorboard. Unplug coil connector from machine wire
harness (Fig. 21).
NOTE: Prior to taking small resistance readings with a
digital multimeter, short the meter test leads together.
The meter will display a small resistance value (usually
0.5 ohms or less). This resistance is due to the internal
resistanceof themeter andtestleads.Subtract thisval-
uefromfrom themeasuredvalue ofthecomponentyou
are testing.
3. Using a multimeter(ohms setting), verify control coil
resistance between the two terminals of the connector.
Resistance should be from 10.2 to 11.2 ohms.
4. Ifcoildoesnotengagewhenvoltageisappliedorcoil
resistance is incorrect, replace control coil.
5. Connect the coil connector to the machine harness
after testing.

2. Speed control coil
3. Brake lever

nect positive cable from battery (see Battery Service in
theService andRepairs sectionofthis chapter).Locate
and unplug fusible link connector from machine wire
harness. Use a multimeter to make sure that continuity
