11.3 Hardware 109
naset -s GPDelay-Ext
naloaddsp GP16
The rst of these two commands congures the
DAT-Link
+ to use the
DSP-Port
for input and output. The second commands loads a sp ecial program into the
DAT-
Link
+ to handle transfers to and from the RD1x5T. Note that if you wish to return
to using the usually AES/EBU ports on the
DAT-Link
+, you will need to clear
these settings with the commands:
naset -c
naloaddsp
Transferring Data from the RD1x5T
Data can be transferred from the RD1x5T during either playback, recording, or
while the deck is in record-pause mode. Also, any of the RD1x5T's mo des can be
used for transfer: 2, 4, or 8 channel at normal or double sp eed. In any of the cases,
the commands used on the host computer are identical. The complete data stream,
including all side information, can be stored in a le using the
narecord
program
described in Section 6. Note, however, that some of the
narecord
options are not
appropriate in this case. The options whichmay be useful are:
-f format:
To set the le format used to save the data.
-n nn:
To record 'nn' samples. Note however that the
narecord
program assumes
that the data is stereo. For example, if 8 channel data is being transferred
and 1000 samples are requested, the le will b e created with 1000 sample-pairs
which are really 250 8-channel samples.
-t seconds:
Record for the given number of seconds. In this case,
narecord
as-
sumes that the RD1x5T will be running in normal sp eed mo de. If double
speed is used, the le will only contain half the requested time. Stereo is also
assumed as for the
-n
option.
-u host:unit:
To record data from a
DAT-Link
+ connected to another networked
host.
For example, to transfer 30 seconds of 2 track data sampled at 48,000 samples/second
(normal speed) from a tap e to the host computer in a le named
/tmp/data
:
Position the tap e appropriately.
Run \
narecord -t 30 /tmp/data
"
Immediately press
PLAY
on the RD1x5T.
