C.1
DSP-Port
The DB15 connector on the rear of the
DAT-Link
+, labelled
DSP-Port
, provides
access to the DSP32C's serial I/O port. This is similar, but not identical to the
DSP Port found on NeXT computers. The NeXT DSP Port is dened in terms
of the serial I/O found on the Motorola 56000 digital signal processor used in the
NeXT. The DSP32C's serial I/O diers from the 56000 and thus the serial p ort
specication of the
DAT-Link
+'s
DSP-Port
is not precisely compatible with the
NeXT DSP Port. However, it do es allow full access to the DSP32C's serial I/O and
is compatible with much of the equipment designed to interface to the NeXT DSP
Port.
The pinout of the
DSP-Port
is shown in Table C.1 with the pin numbers, the NeXT
DSP Port names for the connections, and the signals used for the DSP32C serial
port. The exact use of pins 4,5, and 6 dep end up on the serial port mo de as describ ed
below.
C.1.1 Conguring the
DSP-Port
In order to interface with a variety of peripherals, the
DSP-Port
can be congured
in a number of ways using the
naset
command with the
-s
option. This option
takesakeyword that species the connections b etween the DSP32C, the AES/EBU
transmitter and receiver, and the
DSP-Port
.
For example, to setup the
DAT-Link
+ to transfer data to and from the
DSP-Port
using bit clo cks and load signals (ICK, OCK, ILD, and OLD) generated by the
external equipment, one would use:
