rctrain
. Note that this program does not use the NetAudio server, it communicates
directly with the
DAT-Link
. Thus,
rctrain
must b e run on the same machine that
is connected to the
DAT-Link
. Also, if the NetAudio server,
netaudiod
, is running,
rctrain
will temporarily suspend its operation, aborting any transfers in progress.
On completion of training, the server will resume.
Training can b e run bytyping:
rctrain device operation
where
device
is the name of the device to be trained, and
operation
is the function
to be trained. For example, to train the
PLAY
function of a DTC-75ES DAT
machine, you would type:
rctrain DTC-75ES play
This will create a remote control description ๎˜Œle for the DTC-75ES and prompt you
to do the following:
๎˜
Aim the DTC-75ES's handheld remote control at the remote sensor on the
front panel of the
DAT-Link
. The control should be held at a distance of
approximately 20 cm (8 inches).
๎˜
Press and hold down the
PLAY
button on the remote control. When the
rctrain
displays an
OK
message, the function will have b een trained.
The above pro cedure can be rep eated for each button on the handheld remote
control. The naming of the buttons are arbitrary; any function can b e programmed.
However, if you wish to use the
-a
options to the
naplay
and
narecord
you should
the recommended command names listed in Table 8.1.
The format of the remote control descriptions is described in App endix B.5. If
you encounter problems with training the remote control, consult Section A.4 for
assistance.
8.2 Using the Remote Control
The remote control capabilities can be used in two ways: manually, by issuing
commands directly to the device, or automatically by using the
-a
options for
narecord
or
naplay
. The automatic execution of commands was describ ed in
Sections 5.12 and 6.12.
The
rc
program allows you to manually control a device for which the remote has
been previously trained. It can b e used inside shell scripts to automate repetitive
procedures. Since
rc
uses the NetAudio server, it can b e used from anywhere on a
