option are:
AES
:
Select the AES/EBU input connector as the source.
SPDIF
or
RCA
:
Select the SPDIF (IEC Typ e I I) input as the source.
FIBER
:
Select the b er-optic input as the source.
The ab ovechoices may b e abbreviated to a single character. If the
-i
option is not
provided, then the SPDIF input is used.
6.5 Stereo or Mono
By default, the
narecord
program stores b oth channels of the stereo data in a
le, with the twochannels intersp ersed. The rst sample in the le is for the left
channel, followed by the right channel, etc. If monophonic recording is required
either the
-oleft
or
-oright
options can be used. For example,
narecord -oright file
will store only the rightchannel into the le. The incoming left channel audio will
be discarded. Stereo input can be explicitly sp ecied on the command line using
-ostereo
. These options can be abbreviated to
-ol
,
-or
, and
-os
for left, right,
and stereo respectively.
6.6 Sp ecifying the Recording Duration
The
-n
and
-t
options select the duration of the recording, in samples or seconds
respectively. If neither option is used, recording will continue until the program is
interrupted. For example, to record 5 seconds of audio into a le use:
narecord -t 5 file
6.7 Sampling Rates
There are two sampling rates of importance in recording audio; the rate at which
samples are sent from the DAT machine, and the sampling rate of the le that is
being created.
