2.7 Testing the DAT-Link 41
2.7 Testing the DAT-Link
There are three test programs included with the
DAT-Link
software, one for testing
the connection to the computer, another for testing the remote control functions,
and a third for testing the digital audio inputs and outputs.
2.7.1 Testing the Connection to the Computer
To test the connection between the computer and the
DAT-Link
, the
dltest
pro-
gram can be used. This program communicates directly with the
DAT-Link
to
perform functional tests. This test can not be run while the NetAudio server is
running, as will b e describ ed in Chapter 3.
Assuming the software has b een installed according to the instructions in Section
2.4, and that the directory in which the programs were installed has b een added to
your path, you can type:
dltest
to test the
DAT-Link
connection. If all is well the output should lo ok something
like this:
1044 seconds since power-up.
Max read size = 0 bytes, max write = 512 bytes
Testing panel LED's
All LED's should now be on (except perhaps Lock).
Finished LED test.
Buffer test: testing 883152 bytes
Buffer test passed
Speed test: testing with 13 I/O of 64512 bytes each
Elapsed time for writes: 0.5 seconds = 1743 kbytes/sec
Elapsed time for reads: 0.5 seconds = 1735 kbytes/sec
Testing with 100 read/writes
Null I/O: 0.94 seconds
Elapsed time for rd/wr (64512 bytes/blk):6.5 seconds=1941 kbytes/s
Null I/O: 0.03 seconds
Elapsed time for rd/wr (512 bytes/blk):2.6 seconds=38 kbytes/s
Peak transfer speed: 3240 kbytes/sec
Overhead time: 13 ms/transfer
Testing partition 0: 0x000000-0x00ffff
Testing partition 1: 0xfff800-0xffffff
DSP read/write test passed
