Once you haveveried that the information is correct, press the return key to enter
the conguration. If the conguration was successful, you should see a message
similar to the following:

The line
rmt1 available
indicates that the
DAT-Link
has b een congured as
rmt1
.
Your computer may indicate a dierent unit numb er for the device, suchas
rmt0
or
rmt2
. Make a note of which device name and numb er is displayed (
rmt0
,
rmt1
,
or
rmt2
). You will need it later.
You can now press the
F10
key to exit from
smit
. One last thing needs to b e done
from outside
smit
. Typ e the command:
ln -s /dev/rmt1 /dev/datlink0
to create the
datlink0
system device. Note that
rmt1
should be replaced by the
device name that was displayed when the device was congured by
smit
.
You can now pro ceed with the software installation in Section 2.6 b elow.

Cables Required
To connect the workstation with the
DAT-Link
you will require a cable with a
high-density 50 pin D connector
on one end and a
50 pin Centronics typeconnector
on the other end. This may also b e called a
SCSI-1 to SCSI-2
cable. It should
be available from your Solbourne hardware supplier or can be ordered from your
DAT-Link
supplier.
