.
If you encounter a problem with the
DAT-Link
that you cannot solve after re-
reading the instructions and this section, contact your
DAT-Link
supplier for further
assistance.
Note that the
UNIX
operating system error messages dier on eachtyp e of machine.
Thus, the messages rep orted may not exactly match the examples given below.
A.1 No Communications with DAT-Link
If you run into trouble loading the DAT tape or running
dltest
for the rst time
after installing the software, the following items may help point out the problem.
If the
DAT-Link
device le,
/dev/datlink0
has not been created or it has
been incorrectly created, the following error may be given:
dat_open: No such file or directory
when running the
dltest
program. Check the device le, referring to the
instructions in Section 2.4.
If you see the message,
/dev/datlink0: Permission denied
the problem is likely due to incorrect setting of the permission of the le
/dev/datlink0
. The sup eruser needs to change the permission of the le so
that it can read or written byanyone. The appropriate command is:
