11.3.2 TEAC Data DAT Recorders
The TEAC line of multichannel data DAT recorders can be connected to the DAT-
Link. This includes TEAC's RD125T 4-channel, RD135T 8-channel, and RD145T
16-channel data recorders. The RD135T can record 2 or 4 channels of data at
sampling rates up to 48,000 samples/second or 8 channels of data a sampling rates
of 12,000 or 24,000 samples/second. Other models of TEAC recorders may b e com-
patible with the
DAT-Link
+. However, since only the RD135T and RD145T have
been extensively tested, operation with other decks may be limited. In subsequent
sections, \RD1x5T" will be used to refer to any compatible deck.
The
DAT-Link
+ hardware and the NetAudio software includes supp ort for transfer-
ring data to and from the RD1x5T. During the transfers all time code, voice memo,
and other side information can be preserved. In addition, the NetAudio software
includes two programs,
teacin
and
teacout
, which can deco de and enco de the side
information.
Connecting the RD1x5T
To use the RD1x5T with the
DAT-Link
+, you will need an interface cable-set,
IF-
TEAC
,available from your
DAT-Link
supplier. This interface consists of a small
routing box with two 15-pin cables and one 9-pin cable. With the power to the
RD1x5T and the
DAT-Link
+ turned o, make the following connections:
1. A single cable exits from one end of the interface b ox and two cables exit from
the other end. Connect the single cable to the port labeled
I/F
on the rear
of the RD1x5T and the interface box.
2. Connect the other 15-pin cable which exits from the end of the interface b ox
with two cables to the
DAT-Link
's
DSP-Port
connector.
3. Connect the 9-pin cable to the
DAT-Link
's
Remote
connector.
4. The RD1x5T and the
DAT-Link
+ can then b e p owered on. Note that on some
models of the
DAT-Link
+itmay be necessary to power on the
DAT-Link
+
before the RD1x5T. On these units the
DAT-Link
's
Record
and
Playback
lights will both light and stay on if the RD1x5T is powered on rst.
Setting up NetAudio for the RD1x5T
Once the RD1x5T is connected, the NetAudio daemon should be started on the
host computer as described in Section 3. With the server running, you then need
to execute the following commands

Note that on older versions of the
DAT-Link
+software, the
GP16
program may not exist and
PRO16NF
can b e used in its place.
