Playback Tutorial
One of the main functions of the
DAT-Link
is to playback audio data from one or
more disk les for listening or for transfer to a digital audio tape. In either case the
commands used are the same; the only dierence is the settings of the digital audio
equipment connected to the
DAT-Link
. In the following sections, operation with a
Digital Audio Tape (DAT) machine will be described. However, any digital audio
device which accepts digital inputs can b e used instead.
5.1 Setting up the DAT Machine
5.1.1 Recording onto a DAT
Connect the
DAT-Link
to the DAT machine as describ ed in Section 2.5.
Make sure the NetAudio server is running on the machine which has the
DAT-Link
. See Section 3.1 for details.
Insert a blank tape into the DAT machine.
Select the digital inputs as the input source on the DAT machine. See the
user's manual for the DAT machine for instructions on how to do this.
Start the DAT recording.
Run the
naplay
program on the computer as described b elow.
While recording, the audio signal can b e monitored by using the DAT's head-
phone or analog outputs.
