precedes the right channel. For example, the string, "0L,3S,2M", would create the following
channel map.
Channel 0 - left output of unit 0

Channel 1 - left output of unit
hannel 2 - right output of unit 3

–p precision
Channel 3 - both outputs of unit
Specify the number of bits/sample stored in the input file. The default is 16 bits/sample. The
–r range
precision must be a multiple of 4.
Select a subrange of points to be played from file, using the format start–end , start:end or
a
start:+count. Either the start or the end may be omitted; the beginning or the end of the file
re used if no alternative is specified. Note that if the block output format is used (the –I
r
option was not used during recording), then both the start and end sample numbers will be
ounded to a multiple of the block size.
–R repeats
Repeat the passage repeats times with no intervening silence.
–S srate
Set the output sampling rate of the DAT-Links to srate, which must be one of 32000, 44100,
–
or 48000.
A Normally, dlmplay generates channel status bits using the consumer (also known as S/P DIF,
p
or IEC) standard. By giving the –A option, the channel status will agree with the AES/EBU
rofessional standard which uses 3 pin, XLR connections. The consumer standard is normally
e
t
carried on the IEC Type II (RCA connectors) and the fiber-optic interconnects, in which cas
he –A option should not be used.
–E Use an external clock generator for all units. This option must be used if the external clock
FILES
generator is connected.

NOTES
DAT-Link User’s Manual.
Synchronization of the start-time of multiple DAT-Link’s is only possible with DAT-Link+ revision 1.6
M
or later.
ultiple DAT-Links can quickly use up all available SCSI bandwidth, eventually causing a data under-
t
u
run which terminates dlmplay. Using a separate host adapter for the disk on which file resides from tha
sed to connect to the DAT-Links will allow greater throughput.
.
I
If the external clock generator is not properly connected, dlmplay will hang waiting for a clock signal
f multiple DAT-Link’s are wired together using an external clock generator, then recording will hang if
u
less than the total number of devices is specified, unless the dlmkrdy(1) program is used to force the
nused units to signal that they are ready.
