5-2 PRECAUTIONS FOR DISASSEMBLY, INSPECTION, AND ASSEMBLY
(1) Disassembly
When drawing a shifter stay from its shifter,be careful not to lose the steel ball.It can jump out of the
shifter.
(2) Inspection
-Shifter –disengaging load:
Main change and sub change : 18-22 Kgf (40-49lbs)
4WD change, Creep change : 25-29 kgf (55-64 lbs)
-Usable limit of shifter-disengaging load:
Main change & Sub-change : 17 Kgf (38lbs)
4WD change, Creep change : 24Kgf( 53lbs)
-Wearing limit of each shifter: 0.5 mm (0.02 in)
(3) Reassembly
a.lubricate the grooves in the shifters.
b.Each shifter should be installed in the correct direction.
c. When installing the shifter on the shifter stay, Use the special tool as shown in Fig.5-86
