CHAPTER 10
REMOTE MONITORING
This chapter contains instructions for enabling and disabling the remote
monitoring software.
Introduction to Remote Monitoring Software
When agreed in a service agreement, the Vaisala remote monitoring
software enables Vaisala Service Center to establish a secure connection to
your system via Internet and to perform remote diagnostics, updates, and
repair. The remote monitoring software is preinstalled in all AviMet
systems. However, by default the remote monitoring software is disabled.
With a service agreement, the remote monitoring software is activated
during system delivery and configured to Vaisala Service Center. After the
activation, the software will run on the background and will start
automatically after every system startup.
If the service agreement was purchased after system delivery, you need to
activate the remote monitoring software. See section Enabling Remote
Monitoring Software on page 125.
Enabling Remote Monitoring Software
To activate the remote monitoring software, you have to start and register
two Windows services in the servers (CDUs) that are to be monitored.
Do the following:
1. Log in as administrator level user in the server (CDU) which is to be
monitored.
2. Open the Command Prompt (CMD).
