used.
Especially if anti-virus software updates itself after AviMet system
installation, no guarantee of the AviMet software functionality and
performance can be given.
End-user Software Applications
The AviMet software consists of two sets of applications: end-user
applications and system maintenance applications, which are the tools
needed for system troubleshooting.
The following sections include brief descriptions of what each end-user
application is used for.
For detailed information, refer to the appropriate AviMet system User’s
Guide.
The AviMet LLWAS software focuses on the following aspects of airport
weather observation:
- Displaying wind data (Weather View and Graphical Windshear
Display).
- Displaying windshear and microburst alerts (Weather View and
Graphical Windshear Display).
- Ensuring the validity of data by monitoring the operation of the
system (Diagnostics).
- Viewing past weather data (ASCII Log View).
For more information, see the following brief introductions and the
separate chapters later in this manual.
Viewing Current Data
Weather View
The Weather View application displays windshear and microburst alerts
and current meteorological data in numerical and graphical format, see
section Graphical Windshear Display on page 23. It can also display the
status of sensors and the status of the data. Optionally, the Weather View
application can include the audiovisual alarm function.
