Checking Network Connection
To find out whether there is a network (LAN) problem, do the following:
1. In the RCM workstation, check the Events panel of the Diagnostics
application window. If the message persists, there can be a network
problem.
2. Open the DOS prompt.
3. In the prompt, type ping and the IP address of the CDU you are
troubleshooting to test the network connection. In duplicates systems,
first give the ping command with the IP address of CDU A, then with
the address of CDU B.
4. If the response from ping is Request timed out, there is a network
problem. This can indicate a physical problem (for example,
disconnected or defective cables) or a network configuration problem.
Find the cause for the network problem with the help of your network
documentation and network administrator.
Restarting a Process
If a process has stopped running, restart it by doing the following:
1. In the Diagnostics application, check the status of the process from the
System Status panel: Click the underlined number in the Missing
processes list and see from the list which process is missing.
2. In the appropriate CDU, restart the process using the tools in the
operating system.
3. Check the list again to verify that the process has started.
NOTE
On some rare occasions, the status of the process might remain "Missing"
although you start the process repeatedly. In such cases, restart the
system. See section Restarting the System on page 88.
