Manually Changing the Active CDU
Normally the system is in Automatic switch-over mode and the system
controls which CDU is active. The active CDU is indicated in the Server
status column with the text "Active" and the automatic switch-over mode
with the text "Automatic" in the Switchover mode column. For
information on server statuses, see Table 19 on page 53.
However, you can manually change the active CDU by doing the
following:
1. In the System Status panel, click the Switch CDU button.
2. A message informs you of the change that you are about to make.
Confirm by clicking the OK button.
Depending on the current switch-over mode, note the following:
CAUTION
If the Switchover mode is "Manual" and the active CDU encounters
problems, the system does not automatically switch over to the properly
functioning CDU. It is your responsibility to monitor the situation and
make sure that a faulty CDU is not the active one.
CAUTION
If the Switchover mode is "Automatic", the system can override your
CDU selection and change the active CDU again when switch-over
conditions occur. If you want to keep your CDU selection regardless of
the situation, change the switch-over mode to "Manual" first; see section
Changing the Switch-over Mode to Manual on page 70.
