During system delivery, the exact number and type of processes and
objects is configured individually for each airport. The system keeps track
of the number of processes and objects running in the system. If this
number differs from the one defined in your system configuration files (.ini
files), the AviMet system generates an event message.
The status of processes and objects can be viewed with the Diagnostics
applications.
Components in ROA Architecture
The ROA architecture consists of the following components:
- ROA processes (services)
- ROA objects
- Applications (user interfaces)
The following sections give examples of the components and their function
in the system. For more information on the data flow between ROA
components, see section Data Flow in ROA Architecture on page 37.
ROA Processes
ROA processes handle and control the data flow in the system. They
receive data from sensors or from other processes, and deliver it to other
processes or to user interfaces in the form of objects. Each process creates
one or more data objects and manages them.
ROA processes run as system level services on the Windows® operating
system. They can be viewed using the operating system tools, for example,
the Control Panel.
The ROA processes can be monitored in the Diagnostics application. For
more information, see Chapter 5, Diagnostics, on page 49.
ROA processes can be divided into the following categories:
- System processes
- Meteorological processes
- Report processes
- Data storing processes
- External system processes
