Advanced Automated Osmometer Users Guide
The primary carousel rotates to determine the primary tube locations
and whether readable barcode labels are present. If barcodes are not
present, the software prompts you to manually enter the codes or
proceed without using sample identifications.
The osmometer turntable rotates to the first position containing a
sample cup.
The primary carousel rotates to position the first primary tube to be
sampled in the sample aspiration location.
The barcode scanner reads and records the barcode on the primary
tube.
NOTE The A

O reads the barcode on the primary tube immediately
prior to aspirating the sample to be tested to ensure that the cor-
rect sample ID is stored with the test result in the database.
The pipettor moves to a position above the first primary tube to be
tested.
The pipettor lowers into the primary tube until it detects the liquid
surface. It then lowers an additional distance into the sample and
aspirates the amount required for testing.
The pipettor rises up and moves to the osmometer module above the
first empty sample cup.
The pipettor lowers into the sample cup and dispenses a 100 µL sam-
ple.
The osmometer turntable rotates the filled sample cup into position
for testing.
The pipettor moves to the cleaning station and lowers into the clean-
ing chamber.
The syringe pump expels excess sample into the cleaning station. It
then pumps system fluid through the pipettor to remove any sample
residue.
The osmometer module completes the osmolality measurement of
the sample, rotates to the sample probe cleaning position, and lowers
the probe so that it punctures the wiper ring.
