7.7 Checking and Adding Engine Coolant
WARNING
Burn hazard
Engine coolant is hot and under pressure at operating temperature. It can
cause severe personal injury.
Check the engine coolant level only after the engine has been shut
down and is cool.
Do not add engine coolant directly to the radiator when hot.
If you must drain the engine coolant while it is still hot, stay clear of the
hot engine coolant to avoid being burned.
Check the coolant level at the reserve tank and add coolant as needed.
Wear eye protection when handling the engine coolant.
Tighten the radiator cap securely after checking the radiator. Steam can
escape during engine operation if the cap is loose.

Engine coolant can contain alkali.
Avoid engine coolant contact with skin and eyes.

Requirements
Machine parked on a level surface
Machine shut down and cool to the touch
If needed, an equal mix (50/50) of distilled water and ethylene glycol or-
ganic acid technology (OAT) long life coolant concentrate
Overview
The engine coolant recovery reserve tank is located on the ride side of the
engine compartment.

Procedure
1. Check that the engine coolant level is between the min and max
lines(1).
