3. Hold the adapter in this position and tighten the nut finger tight. Tighten
1/4 turn more with a wrench.
4. Place the ferrule and column nut on the column end. Trim off a short piece
to remove any ferrule fragments inside the column.
5. Gently insert the column into the detector until it bottoms; do not attempt
to force it.
6. Tighten the column nut finger tight. Withdraw the column about 1 mm.
7. Use a wrench to tighten the nut an additional 1/4 turn.
