9. Q: Sometimes during a video call, the e-m@iler returns to a normal voice call, then
I hear a beep. What does this mean?
A: Either you or the other person is a subscriber to a Call Waiting service. When a Call
Waiting notification is received during a video call, the video connection stops and both
parties are returned to a normal voice call. If you are the Call Waiting subscriber, you can
temporarily disable the service (so that video calls are not interrupted) by dialling #43#
before making the call. After the call you can dial 43# to re-enable the service.
10. Q: How can I find out my email address and password?
A: Press SETUP, 6 (select user if necessary) and your personal details will be displayed.
11. Q: What is 'polling'?
A: Polling is the process whereby the e-m@iler calls the server to collect any waiting email.
Note the factory setting is for daily polling, however, the e-m@iler can be set to poll more
frequently or be set to manual collection. Any change to the setting can only be made at
the e-m@iler itself.
12. Q: How much does it cost to send and receive messages?
A: Email calls are charged at the email call rate you were advised of during registration. You
can check the email charge on the SERVICES menu – look under ONLINE LINKS /
AMSERVE LINKS
/ E-MAILER SERVICE CHARGES. Each email call can send
and/or collect multiple emails. Note, however, the charge for an email call is still payable
even if no messages are being sent or received. The charge for sending an SMS text
message is displayed on the screen before you compose or send it.
13. Q: There seems to be a general malfunction; the e-m@iler's display is on but none of
the keys seem to be working – what shall I do?
A: Make sure that you have registered the e-m@iler – it will not work until you do so (you
will not even be able to make or receive phone calls). Otherwise, this problem may be the
result of a key being stuck – check all keys on both the e-m@iler and keyboard to see if
any have been wedged down. If that doesn't resolve matters, reset the e-m@iler by
switching it off then on again very quickly at the wall.
14. Q: How do I set up the date and time?
A: The date and time will be set automatically whenever you make an email call. However,
you can set the time manually by pressing SETUP, 7, 2.
15. Q: Can I store the addresses from incoming email into my Address Book?
A: Yes, while the message is displayed on the screen, press both STORE and EMAIL
together (on the keyboard) to paste the email address into the Address Book, then type in
the name and complete the entry.
16. Q: What do the coloured lights above the screen mean?
A: A flashing red light indicates that there is email waiting to be collected. A solid red light
indicates that email has already been collected and is waiting to be read. A solid green
light indicates that a voicemail message or memo has been left and is waiting to be
played.
