Hardware Installation for the D8 ADVANCE VÅNTEC-1 Detector User Manual
4 - 32 M88-E01072
Align the radial Soller slit:
The radial Soller slit can not be used with Bragg-
Brentano geometry. The beam path of a primary
focusing monochromator or parallel beam con-
dition (Göbel mirror) will influence two DOFs:
tangent and radial axis. Perform the manual
alignment as follows:
1. Run a baseline scan using the scan param-
eters listed in Table 8.1 with SRM1976 or
powder in capillaries to define the intensity
distribution (also see the Instrument Verifi-
cation Booklet M88-Zxx041).
2. Install the radial Soller slit (see Figure 4.31).
3. Run a lock coupled scan on the main peak
and record the intensity.
4. Align the tangent axis and then the radial
axis to maximize intensity. Make sure that
the movements along the axis are smooth.
Loosen the clamping screws as needed.
The peak positions should not vary.
5. Repeat the measurement like in step 1 and
compare the intensity distribution. There
should be no intensity loss.
6. Tighten the clamping screws on both dove-
tails.
