CONTROLDESCRIPTIONS
FIGURE89
AND TROUBLESHOOTING
UTEC 1012-920 INTEGRATED FURNACE CONTROL
INTEGRATED FURNACE
CONTROLS USED ON THE
90 PLUS GAS FURNACE WITH
HOT SURFACE IGNITION
This furnace uses either a UTEC or
Honeywell control. These controls
generally operate the same. They
manage the operation of the furnace;
sequence the unit on and off; use the
process of flame rectification to
monitor flame presence and stop the
furnace if detecting a malfunction.
There are small differences between
the controls.
UTEC 1012-920 AND HONEYWELL
S9201 E2001 CONTROLS
The UTEC 1012-920 control has
our part number 62-24084-01.
They are in units with serial numbers
beginning with OF. The new
Honeywell control is the
S9201 E2001 with our part number
62-24044-01. Furnaces having serial
numbers beginning with DC have the
Honeywell control.
These controls have two green LED
lights. Both lights should be on
during normal operation. The power
light indicates the board has 24 volts
to operate. The OK light should be
on constantly as the board checks its
circuitry. If the OK light is out, the
control has internal problems and
needs replacement. (The OK LED
flashes if two furnaces are not
twinned properly.)
There is an additional third amber
LED light. This indicates the flame
signal microamp
(µA) strength. The
LED is on if the signal strength is
normal. It flickers if the strength is
marginal and goes out if there is no
signal.
