FLIGHT COMPARTMENT
1. DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
The cockpit is equipped with two seats for the pilot and the second crewmember. Each seat is
equipped with adjustable safety harnesses.
A. Pilot seat
The pilot seat (1; 2, Fig. 25-1) consists of a seat (4; 5) and a backrest (3).
The seat consists of the metal sheet, which covers the main wing spar. The backrest is made of
plywood. It is attached with bolts to the bulkhead, which separates the cockpit from the baggage
compartment. The seats are non-adjustable. The seat is covered with upholstery, which is
attached with Velcro fasteners.
Optionally every seat can be equipped with the sear heater, which increases the comfort in
winter or cold season. Every seat heater is controlled by the switches, which afford three levels
of heating. The thermostat maintains an optimal temperature that automatically turns on and off
the heating, according to the preset heating level. Both switches are located on the central
console.
Wiring diagram for the seat heating is given in Chapter 91.
B. Safety harness
Each seat is equipped with four point safety harnesses (6, Fig. 25-1). The safety harnesses are
anchored to the fuselage structure.
(1) Fastening of the safety harness
(a) Put the shoulder belts on your shoulders. Adjust the length as necessary so that
the belts correspond to the body height. Use the adjustment buckles of the belt to
adjust the length.
(b) Adjust the length of the lap belt as necessary.
(c) Put the clasp into the buckle so that the latch of the buckle fits into the hole in the
clasp (see Fig. 25-1).
(2) Unfastening of the safety harness
(a) Press the button on the front of the buckle housing until the clasp is released (see
Fig. 25-1). Remove the clasp from the buckle.
(b) Remove the belts from the shoulders.
