PROPELLER ASSEMBLY
1. DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
A. Woodcomp Klassic 170/3/R propeller
Woodcomp Klassic 170/3/R is a three-blade, right-hand, on-ground adjustable propeller with
rated diameter 1708 mm.
The propeller consists of these parts:
Propeller hub
Propeller blades
Propeller spinner
The two-piece propeller hub is made of aluminium alloy. Propeller blades are made of wood.
The blade surface is covered with composite coating and paint. Root section of the blade is
fitted with a composite tube which sustains axial and radial forces.
The propeller blade pitch of the SportStar RTC airplane is set to 17°30‘.
The composite propeller spinner is made of one piece. It is attached to the backplate with bolts.
The backplate is installed between the engine flange and the propeller hub.

B. Woodcomp KW-31-033 propeller
Woodcomp Klassic KW-31-033 is a three-blade, right-hand, electrically adjustable propeller with
rated diameter 1726 mm. The propeller may operate either in manual control mode, or
automatically as a constant-speed propeller.
The propeller consists of these parts:
Propeller hub
Propeller spacer
Propeller blades
Propeller spinner
Pitch setting mechanism and control unit.
The propeller hub is made of aluminium alloy. Propeller blades are made of wood. The blade
surface is covered with composite coating and paint. The root section of the blade is fitted with a
duralumin hub with bearings, plain bearings and securing rings which sustain axial and radial
forces.
The propeller blade pitch setting is enabled by a servomotor. It may be smoothly changed in the
range from a minimum angle to a maximum angle. Power supply for the servomotor is secured
by the collector with slip rings. The propeller type is push-pullboth minimum and maximum
propeller blade pitch is set only by the servomotor. The pitch setting mechanism is self-locking,
if the power is not supplied to the servomotor, the blades remain at the last achieved angle.
Power of the electric motor is transferred by an epicyclic gearbox to the motion screw. The
