9-6 Driving and Operating
Transmission Display
When the gear lever position is
changed, an animation appears on
the display.
The selected gear is magnified and
changes as the gear lever is moved.
The animation appears on the
display for 2 seconds after the gear
is selected.
The lever position indicated at the
bottom of the display remains on,
indicating the currently
selected gear.
Note: If any warnings are active on
the display, the animation will not be
shown. Only the indication at the
bottom of the display changes when
the gear lever is moved. See “Active
Select (A/S) mode” under Selector
Lever on page 9‑6.
Selector Lever
The engine will not start unless the
gear lever is in position P or N.
P: In park position the wheels are
locked. Apply the parking brake
before leaving the vehicle.

CAUTION
Selecting position P while the
vehicle is still moving can
damage the transmission.
Do not press the accelerator
pedal with the brakes on in any
gear except position P or N.This
will overheat the transmission.
R: Place the vehicle in reverse
gear only when it is stationary. The
reverse lights will switch on.
N: In neutral the vehicle can be
moved without the engine running,
e.g. to be towed or pushed.
