Configuring the SA message cache
To reduce the time spent in obtaining the multicast information, enable the SA message cache
mechanism to locally cache (S, G) entries contained in SA messages on the router. More cached (S, G)
entries occupy more memory spaces on the router.
After the SA message cache mechanism is enabled, when the router receives a new (*, G) join message,
it searches its SA message cache first.
• If no matching (S, G) entry is found, the router waits for the SA message that its MSDP peer sends
in the next cycle.
• If a matching (S, G) entry is found in the cache, the router joins the SPT rooted at S.
To protect the router against DoS attacks, you can set a limit on the number of (S, G) entries that the router
can cache.
